Hunting

This year Karalee, Shantelle, and I put in for the hunts together and we all drew out for Monroe Mountain. We all went to Delta for Avery's birthday party and then Bryce and I came home and Shantelle and Josh came over to stay at our house. Right before we went to bed Shantelle remembered that she forgot her tag at her house so they had to drive through the night to go get her tag! I felt so bad for them. They came to stay with us so that they would be closer and wouldn't have to get up as early but as it turned out they drove all around the state and didn't get any sleep at all. My mom came over to my house to watch Kimbry, Avery, and Stockton. All of Andrew's family was up there except Peter. My dad and Jason also came over to help us hunt. Andrew's family always hunt in Koosharem so we went to their spot opening morning. We all got in our places before the sun came up. There were so many people up there we could see orange all over the mountain. At first it was discouraging because it felt like we wouldn't get one because there were so many hunters. We sat there for a little while and saw a few does but no bucks. We heard a few shots so someone was finding some. Then we moved a little further down with still not much luck. I saw my dad, Jason, Shany and Josh move to the next ridge where Andrew's family was and soon after Bryce and I followed. Come to find out Tim's father in law had show a big spike and Karalee had shot a 3 point buck. Eldon and Jared had gone on top of the mountain which was moving the deer down for us. We were all sitting there watching Karalee with her deer when Bryce saw two good bucks and told me to get up there to shoot one. My dad told Shany to do the same since there was two of them. I was standing on the left and Shany on the right so my dad said for me to shoot the left one and Shany to shoot the right one. I looked at them both and I couldn't tell but they looked about the same size to me so I shot the one on the left. I saw him go down and waited to see if I needed to shoot again. Then Shany shot her deer and hers went down too! We waited a little while and then hiked down to see them. I had shot mine in the lungs and it was dead. It was a wide 2x3. Shany had shot hers in the back but it wasn't dead yet so she shot it again. Hers was a wide 4x4. My dad felt bad because he had told me to shoot the smaller buck but we couldn't tell exactly how big they were at the time. I didn't feel bad. This was both mine and Shany's first hunt and we got some pretty awesome bucks! We had all shot our bucks opening morning before 10AM! It was a lot of fun! Jared ended up shooting one shortly after that so we had filled all of the tags. We all headed home by noon! Shany and Josh came back to our house and crashed for a little while. I was so glad that she had gotten one since she drove all the way back to Provo to get her tag! Bryce and I decided to cut up my deer ourselves so we spent the rest of the night cutting and packaging the meat. I'm so glad I got to hunt with my sisters! And even better that we all shot our deer opening morning! 

Kaylee also came hunting and had lots of fun! 

She can't wait til she is old enough to do her own hunt.
