Proposal

Like I said in my previous post Bryce and I got engaged on December 23, 2011. I just wanted to make another post to tell the story!

Bryce and I had picked out the ring about a week before so I knew that he would be proposing soon. We got the ring in Salt Lake and they were going to send it to his house in Monroe. On December 22nd, Bryce told me he was going to catch a ride to Monroe with his friend Brent just for the day to bring Brent's family some Christmas presents. I knew this was to pick up the ring. Well, later he texts me and tells me the ring didn't come in the mail but in the back of my mind I thought maybe he was just telling me that because he wanted me to be surprised. He got back late that night and I thought if he really had the ring he would propose that night because I had to work early the next morning and then was heading for Delta for Christmas. Well, he got back to Cedar late that night and he proceeded to tell me how mad he was that the ring didn't come in the mail and he had gone all the way to Monroe for it. So now I believed that he really didn't have the ring.
Then on December 23rd at 6:00am Bryce wakes me up. (When I first wake up I'm usually pretty confused and it takes me a minute to know what is going on.) Apparently Bryce said "Kristy, you've got to wake up" and I responded "I know" as I continued to sleep. I don't remember that part but its not the first time I've talked in my sleep. Finally, I sat up and I was really confused to see Bryce in my room handing me roses. Then he knelt down on one knee and pulled out the ring. The first thing I did was hit him and said "You lied to me" He just laughed and said he didn't lie he just didn't tell me the whole story. Then he proposed and I of course said yes. He then he told me how the ring really didn't come in the mail so he called them and they had it up there all ready to send. So him and Brent drove all the way up to Salt Lake and picked it up themselves right before they closed. So I guess he never did lie. I think he just wanted to surprise me since I already knew that it was coming. Well let me just say... He did surprise me! He then made me breakfast while I got ready to go to work. It was cute and now I am glad that he did surprise me.

Here is us the day we got engaged. We did think to take a picture (although its not the best one) but I didn't think to get the ring in that picture. Oh well...

And here is the ring!

That day I just wanted to tell everyone so bad but I refrained because since I was going home later that day anyways I wanted to tell my family in person rather than over the phone. Except, I did call Karalee that morning because she wasn't going to be in Delta til the next day. As soon as I got off work, I headed for Delta. I'm usually not one to speed, but I kept finding myself speeding because I was so excited to get home. When I got home there wasn't anyone there.... of course the one time I really wanted to get home and even sped to get there no one would be home. I called my mom and her and Shany were heading to Lemington for a minute. Seriously? Lemington? Yes, that is about a half hour away from Delta. My mom then tells me that my dad and Jason were home teaching, which that always takes forever as well (my dad is a talker). But my mom said that Breanna was just at the neighbor's house and to call her. As I got off the phone with my mom, Breanna walks in the door. I decided to just see how long it would take for my family to notice the ring on my finger. So I didn't say anything. I just sat there and talked to Breanna or more like I listened to Breanna talk. I'm was trying to be obvious with the ring on my finger and she was not noticing. Finally, Breanna says "So what's new with you?" I was just exhausted from trying to be so obvious that I just held up my hand and she finally noticed and started freaking out.
Then my mom and Shany got home and came and started talking to us. Again I tried to be obvious with my ring but they were just oblivious. I even had it up by my mouth and they were looking right at my not noticing. I looked at Breanna and finally we both just busted up laughing. My mom and Shany were confused at why we were laughing and I finally showed the ring. Shany grabbed my hand and said "that aint real!" (nice delta lingo there) It was so funny. So then we just waited for my dad and Jason to get home. I knew if the girls didn't notice, the guys certainly wouldn't. They got home and gave me hugs. Then my dad just went over to the computer and started playing a game. Well, he for sure wasn't going to notice. It was up to Jason. We sat and talked to Jason and then it was killing me. I finally just said "Wow, all of you are so oblivious, you don't notice anything." Jason's says " what am I not noticing? The house is clean, good job guys" I just laughed and looked at him then at my ring, then at him and at my ring again. Jason then says "wow, nope I didn't notice that." I guess it is ok that they weren't all home at once. I got three pretty funny reactions!

Bryce and Kristy

I decided to try out this blogging thing again. For all of those who gave up on my other blog, I don't blame you I really wasn't good at keeping it up. But don't give up on me completely. I am really going to try this time. Now that I am married I want to keep this as a family journal so I think that will be enough to motivate me to blog more often.
Bryce and I met our freshman year of college. He was roommates with one of my good friends from high school and he was in my ward. We were just friends before his mission and then I wrote him a little while he was on his mission. When Bryce got home we began dating. Things started to get serious and for whatever reason I wasn't ready to make that commitment. We broke up for about 8 months. And then slowly started talking again. I guess I just needed time to figure out what I really wanted and to figure out for myself that Bryce was the one for me. He later told me that he knew two years ago that he wanted to marry me. I am grateful that Bryce was so patient and never gave up on me. We began dating again and got engaged on December 23rd. I have never wanted to have a long engagement but me being in the nursing program at SUU, I really didn't see how we could get married any sooner than May. My schooling is very demanding of my time and even with the longer engagement I still felt as though I was barely getting things done in time. I received my endowments in the St. George Temple on May 12th. My little brother, Jason, had received his mission call to the Washington Everett Mission and would be leaving about a month after we got married so he was able to receive his endowments on the same day with me. It was really neat to go through at the same time and then he was able to be at my sealing. Bryce and I were sealed in the Manti Temple on May 18th, 2012.

Here are some pictures of us before his mission:

Also at his farewell (Don't judge me too harshly on this look I'm sporting. We all slept in except Brittany so we got ready in the car while Brittany drove, but hey we made it in time for his talk...barely)
